Our sales concept is based on the idea of the founder of the Swiss company MIGROS, Gottlieb Duttweiler, who believed in providing affordable medicinal products despite the great effort involved. Duttweiler's maxims were good value for money and product integrity. This concept was controversial for a long time, but has proven itself. For legal reasons, we only sell directly to demonstrably qualified therapists and pharmacies.
SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Medicinal leeches of the Hirudo genus are protected by the Washington Convention on the Protection of Endangered Species because they are almost extinct in large parts of their former habitat, including Germany. We keep and breed leeches in conditions that are as close as possible to their natural habitat, because only leeches that feel good will have an optimum effect on their “patients”. Quite apart from our moral obligations towards another living being, we do not want to accept reduced quality when it comes to medicinal products, which is why we are constantly working on improvements.
“PENSIONER” LEECHES
Leeches have been "overexploited" for many decades. So much so that in some European regions they are extinct or close to extinction. For this reason they are a protected species. Several hundred thousand leeches are used for leech therapy every year and for safety reasons they cannot be reused. In order to minimise the unnecessary killing of leeches after their use, we have developed a concept in collaboration with the relevant supervisory authorities. Working with Lebenshilfe Gießen, we take the leeches back after their use and, after another quarantine period, house them in our so-called pensioner ponds in a natural environment. To facilitate the return of leeches, we offer return sets in our shop.
We get our energy from renewable sources because we are committed to protecting the environment: Electricity: our supplier guarantees that our electricity comes from 100% renewable energy sources, without nuclear power and coal. Gas: our supplier provides us with an environmentally friendly gas product. In contrast to conventional natural gas, it contains a proportion of biogas, and this proportion is constantly increasing.
Although we only buy energy from providers who meet the abovementioned criteria, we change providers when competitors offer cheaper rates. This is a straightforward process, keeps suppliers competitive and ensures that our energy supply is environmentally responsible.
