Medirud® leeches are pharmacy-only, non-prescription medicinal products. Using them for treatment requires specialist knowledge. They are not suitable for self-medication.
Leech therapy is included in the curriculum of some medical training courses. However, practice-oriented training is not yet the norm. As leech producers, we have a great interest in ensuring that leech therapy is properly applied. For this reason we offer therapists training in the use of leeches in a range of topic-specific seminars. Our training is aimed at doctors, veterinarians, non-medical practitioners, medical staff, pharmacists and people with an interest in animals.
